Welcome to Edge & Oak. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our website and your purchase of our products. By using our site or placing an order, you agree to these Terms. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy, Refund & Return Policy, and Shipping Policy.

3.1 Who we are

Edge & Oak is an online store operating from 12 Kirshner Road, Benoni AH Small Farms, 1501, South Africa, contactable at edgeandoak@gmail.com. Our full company details appear in our Legal Notice.

3.2 Eligibility

You must be 18 years or older, or have the permission and supervision of a parent or guardian, and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract, in order to buy from us.

3.3 Products, descriptions & pricing

We do our best to describe and picture our products accurately, but slight variations in colour, wood grain and finish are natural in the materials we use and are not defects. All prices are in South African Rand (ZAR) and include VAT where applicable. We are currently not VAT-registered, so no VAT is charged. We may change prices at any time, but changes won't affect orders we've already accepted.

If a product is listed at an incorrect price due to an obvious error, we may cancel the order and refund you in full, even after it's been placed.

3.4 Orders & acceptance

When you place an order you make an offer to buy. Your order is only accepted once we confirm it and/or dispatch it. We reserve the right to decline or cancel any order — for example if the item is out of stock, we suspect fraud, or there was a pricing error — in which case we'll refund any payment in full.

3.5 Payment

Payments are processed securely through PayFast. By placing an order you confirm that the payment method used is yours and that you are authorised to use it. Orders are only dispatched once payment has cleared.

3.6 Delivery

Delivery is handled as set out in our Shipping Policy. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery.

3.7 Returns & guarantee

Returns, refunds, our 30-day money-back guarantee, and your legal cooling-off and consumer rights are set out in full in our Refund & Return Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

3.8 Correct and safe use of our products

Our sharpeners and accessories are designed to sharpen kitchen and pocket knives and use abrasive diamond surfaces and, when in use, sharp blades. You agree to use them only as intended and in line with any instructions provided, to keep them away from children, and to take reasonable care. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for injury, damage or loss arising from misuse, careless handling, or failure to follow instructions.

3.9 Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any rights or remedies you have under the Consumer Protection Act or other South African law that cannot lawfully be excluded — including your rights in respect of defective goods. Subject to that, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you in connection with any order is limited to the amount you paid for that order, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

3.10 Intellectual property

The Edge & Oak name, logo, product images, text and all other content on this site are our property and are protected by law. You may not copy, reproduce or use them without our written permission.

3.11 Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and you agree to the jurisdiction of the South African courts. If you have a complaint, please contact us first at edgeandoak@gmail.com so we can try to resolve it. You may also refer certain disputes to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (CGSO) — www.cgso.org.za — or the National Consumer Commission.
